Interactive Designer (Virtual Internship)

We are looking for virtual interns to work on high-profile interactive projects. If you want to gain real-world experience fast and you are in the new media, informatics, CGT, or graphic design track and have promising student work samples, apply. Our virtual internships have weekly in-person status meetings. Then the majority of communication will occur online using DimDim, Skype, Chat, and email.

Right now, you may not have all the required skills we seek, but if you are confident you can learn quickly, work hard and have natural talent, you will master most of these skills at the end of your internship.

We are looking for rare individuals that have a gift for original thinking, a broad exposure to design and design styles as well as having a mastery of the tools involved in developing the interactive medium. Candidates must have proficiency with Photoshop, Flash, Fireworks, Maya, Video editing, After Effects, Sound and XHTML/CSS.

Must be a self-starter and able to confidently manage own tasks effectively without frequent supervision. Must take deadlines seriously, and will do what it takes to meet them.

Required Skills:

• Solid understanding and respect for usability while maintaining creative flair.
• Open to be challenged by Creative Directors, Project Managers, and Clients.
• Work closely with developers for implementation of projects.
• Work within the design team to create impressive high quality interactive experiences, online graphics, rich-media banner ads, and email campaigns.
• Creation of initial design from a written or verbal creative brief. Must have excellent online commercial understanding and working creatively within existing brand guidelines
• Full understanding of the possibilities & limitations of XHTML, CSS, XML, accessibility & CMS on the creative solution.
• Must be adaptable & be experienced in coping proficiently with fast changing situations & tight deadlines.
• Experience working on content-managed websites – both Flash and HTML.
• Proven experience with Flash video delivery and integration of sound, motion graphics, animations and transition sequences. FLV encoding & optimization.
• Proficiency with Flash development using XML/Actionscript 2/3
• Autodesk Maya 3D modeling/ animation and Papervision skills would be a distinct advantage.
• Create and style standards-compliant XHTML and CSS templates from Photoshop comps.
• Understand Web Standards and SEO best practices
• Intermediate knowledge of JavaScript
